Chemical and mineral fertilizers and pesticides, overtilling, and excess irrigation practices over the last 200 years have released over 80 billion tons[iii] of CO2 into the atmosphere. Regenerative agriculture[iv], in contrast, is a holistic approach that regenerates soil health.
Tropical forests[i] are nature’s most powerful carbon sinks, absorbing harmful greenhouse gas emissions through photosynthesis. When they’re destroyed, therefore, these sinks release all that stored carbon back into the environment.
According to recent studies, having one fewer child is, in fact, the most impactful lifestyle change we can make to reverse climate change, potentially saving over twelve times the CO2 emissions than the combined savings of eliminating car and air travel AND eating a plant-based diet.
